Available in chrome and blackout finish. Menu Open Shut. Swing speed is a minor consideration at best. But the real question is how does a change in feel from the shaft influence those tendencies for you?
That applies to both shaft weight and shaft stiffness. For some players the tendencies don't change regardless of the shaft. For others, a change in feel from the shaft can influence those tendencies.
Generally, one who wants to slow down the transition a bit may try a heavier shaft - or even just a heavier swing weight.
Whether it actually accomplished the goal is something you wont know until you try it. For some it may work, for others it might not make any difference at all, and for a third group it may make things worse.
You have to get out and test the different options to find out what will happen to your swing. Forget all that old talk about getting better dispersion with stiffer shafts or heavier or Consistency in the results comes ONLY from consistency in the swing.
If the 5. Now whether it's the stiffness of the 5. With PX shafts and some other shaft models - most notably the various KBS shafts , as you go up in flex, they also go up in weight.
Ideally you want to fit yourself to weight and stiffness independently - weight comes first and is generally more important or influential to the swing - and stiffness only comes after the weight has been figured out.
Had this dilemma 2 years ago. Bought a set of Mizunos with px 5. With the px 5. The simple change into 6. Distance stayed the same, maybe even got a bit more distance due to proper sequencing.
First round with 6. With driver or 6 iron? Driver swing speed around mph give or take, during season when in form can squeeze out a few more mph.
I am definitely a feel type of player, and am maybe a little different in that while i went up in shaft weight my swing speed increased.
Obviously distance increased as well. Tempo i would describe as fairly smooth until top of back swing with aggressive transition into and through hitting area with a later release.
The weight of the shaft makes possibly the biggest difference asside from overall profile. I tend to like iron shaft between grams.
I have only briefly tested out the 6. Cool, thanks for all that. Helps to know what type of swing you have because someone on here could match it and then it makes their life easier picking out shafts.
I am doing swing changes to shallow out my swing. I hope to get up to Working on my transition, I think it will be smooth in the end.
Going to get it repeatable and then head to my swing coach, who I know will hate it. But you know that happens.
Honestly could play either of those shafts and would be very happy. That was actually first time going through a legit fitting, and it really opened my eyes and changed the way I view equipment especially shafts.

January 2, Another of my Rifle Flighted 5. Fortunately last time I had to replace a shaft I was able to replace it with a non-flighted rifle, which as it was in the 8 iron wasn't a big problem, however I don't think I'm going to be that lucky again.
My pro shop is advising a Project X Flighted or non-flighted 5. My understanding of the flighted shafts is that the long irons and short iron shafts have different kick points to 'normal' shafts to promote different ball flights, so the kick points in say a Rifle Flighted and an S 7 iron shaft would be similar and have similar ball flights?
Onto flexes. I've read that the Project X Flighted 5. Any thoughts on this? I've also read that an S would play about 5. Finally, weight?
I was originally fitted for the Rifle Flighted 5. Can anyone shed any light on whether the Project Xs flighted or not are similar weights to the Rifle Flighted?
In summary, I'm trying to choose between the Project X Flighted 5. Cost is also a concern as the S will no doubt be significantly cheaper.
